The End of The Hiatus
So. Long story short: I'm back from the announced Hiatus.
It's been a few months, and a lot has changed.
Unfortunately, I'm no longer trading the strategies I had posted earlier, for several reasons. Mostly because I lost money trading them, and I was fiddling around with the parameters too much, trying to optimize them on the fly. Big mistake.
The VIX-VVIX-SPY trade wasn't working, obviously. Even with the modifications I’d made.
The VIX spreads had Bid/Ask spreads that were way too big, making the trade unprofitable and frustrating to try and open and close.
TMF/TMV was far too confusing to trade every day, much less try and access my Roth in time to get it working.
Weekend Put spreads hit a few painful and big losses, and then we hit high Volatility in the past month or so.
The good news is that I'll be sharing new stuff soon. Stuff that should be interesting, profitable, and not complicated. I think a lot of my problems stemmed from a complexity addiction that made decent ideas worse.
The “New Plan” is the following:
Do write ups and explanations on the strategies I'm trading. Keeping them simple.
Actually be consistent with trading the strategies. Automate what can be automated.
Show the trading results on my $30K portfolio, starting May 1st.
Actually make money.
My next post, detailing one of these simple strategies, will go up before May 1st, so you can all bleed along with me.
